Earlier this week, Turkish yacht builder Mengi Yay launched its new 35.5-metre motor yacht Seastar in Tuzla outside Istanbul. The project will now undergo final outfitting and sea trial testing, all ahead of its delivery scheduled for the end of this month.Photo: Mengi-Yay

Designed by VYD Studio from Trieste with a sharp and modern exterior, Seastar’s matching interior is by Mengi Yay. The project is built on an all-wooden hull for a comfortable oceangoing experience and finished off with a lightweight composite superstructure. Fitted with twin 1900 hp engines, she can reach a top speed of 22 knots.Photo: Mengi-Yay

Inside, up to 10 overnight guests can stay on board in four lower deck guest cabins and a master stateroom on the main deck. A raised pilothouse gives Seastar a sporty edge from an exterior perspective and leads out onto a spacious sundeck with a retractable hardtop bimini structure.Photo: Mengi-Yay

This leaves two projects under construction in the Mengi Yay sheds, namely the 43-metre sailing yacht L’Aquila II and another 47-metre luxury gulet, scheduled for completion in 2021 and 2020 respectively.
